A great companion to a performance management system.by Reviewer of Training Med (Cambridge, MA)

I recommend this as a resource, especially for the coaching of brand new supervisors or managers. Often those of us who are leadership “experts” think that everyone else has been reading all the latest books and research about leadership and so we think common sense practices are, well, common sense.
However, in addition to introducing some contradictory thinking that surrounds leadership, I think that Glaser helps the new leader develop his or her vocabulary and pay attention to key concepts about how leadership has changed over the years.

Workshop
What is The Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose™ workshop?
To reach our next level of greatness, depends on the quality of our culture,
which depends on the quality of our relationships,
which depends on the quality of our conversations.
Everything happens through conversation!
The Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose is a half day or full day workshop for any organization or group of people who wish to define and strengthen their Leadership DNA.
While the world agrees that "command and control" leadership is the dinosaur of the past, many of us disagree on what new leadership is all about. Is it about hard and soft? Is it hubris or humility? Is it visionary or heroic? Many executives - both men and women - fear that giving up toughness means letting go of results.
In this provocative session, leaders will learn that there is another emerging framework - that finally speaks to a "new order" of inclusion, candor and interdependence. Executives will understand that when we move on from "command and control," we do not step into the soft and mushy. Instead, by uniting candor and caring we step into a new level of greatness energized by demand and desire.
Learn what this looks like and how to give more of your real self in an interaction - and in a relationship. In this highly interactive session, leaders will engage in vital conversations and experience what "really" happens when people talk with each other. Come prepared to see and experience yourself as a leader in a whole new light. Everything happens through conversation.
What will it help us do?
The Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose workshop will help you develop the leadership awareness that you need for shaping environments to bring out the best in yourself and others. You will...
Identify the difference between old leadership and new leadership (positional power vs. relational power)
Create new distinctions about vital leadership such as: power-with and power-over, inclusive rather than exclusive leadership, appreciative rather than judgmental, sharing rather than withholding, generative rather than conventional, developmental rather than dictatorial, and celebratory rather than punishing
Learn how to make the shift from power-over to power-with "in the moment"
Learn how to create workplace environments filled with inclusive vital conversations and practices that strengthen relationships with direct reports, peers and colleagues to achieve business results
Develop an action plan for expanding inclusive and co-creative leadership practices and conversations in the workplace.
What skills will I learn by participating in The Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose workshop?
Judith believes that leadership success comes from a leader's ability to see the connection between intention and impact. When leaders are only focused on intention, they drive their own agenda. When leaders recognize how their beliefs and behavior impact others, they gain mastery over their own ability to create success with others. Glaser's highly dynamic, interactive and experiential group process techniques helps CEOs "make the invisible visible," by providing executives with insights into their leadership state of mind. Many programs discuss leadership attributes. Glaser's program draws on the power of coaching to give leaders tools and techniques that enable them to gain personal insights and to take these back with them to apply every day.
Participants will leave with the ability to shift from I-centric into We-centric leadership states of mind, to connect intention and impact, to transform breakdowns into breakthroughs, and to coach themselves in real-time through their leadership challenges.
Leaders will take away the 3 Key principles for Creating Success in Organizations, the Language of Leadership, Leadership DNA , the Practices of Successful Leader, as well as many valuable insights that can be used as a daily reference of the techniques covered during the presentation.
Why is this important?
Too often we think of leadership in terms of old style leadership attributes such as strong and courageous which can easily lead a person to become a power-over others rather than power-with others. In my coaching practice, many of the leaders that "detail" demonstrate the "I-centric" model rather than a "we-centric" model of leadership.
This program helps new leaders, and existing leaders have the benefit of working with a seasoned "coach" who can help them see what good leadership looks like, feels like and really is. When leaders gain self-awareness and can make leader shifts when they are much more able to create workplaces that inspire leadership in others.
What is the difference between the Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose half day and full day workshops?
The half day session will introduce participants to the concepts of I-centric and We-centric leadership along with power-over and power-with. Participants will have a chance to work together to understand and shape their conversation for co-creation.
During the half day session participants will have an opportunity to:
View The Leadership Secret of Gregory Goose DVD
Watch video clips of people in conversation to "deconstruct" the conversations and understand how to make a leader shift.
Work together on Inclusive behaviors and practices as well as phrases
During the full day session participants will have an opportunity to:
Do all of the above
Watch a few additional video clips of people in conversation to ?deconstruct? the conversations and understand how to make a leader shift.
Learn a co-creating practice to talk back to the workplace
Experiment with "real-plays" which are real situations from their own work environments
Create individual action plans
Additional Materials
Participants will each get a copy of Judith Glaser's books: Creating We & The DNA of Leadership
How many participants can attend a workshop?
The ideal workshop size is 25 - 30 participants. The maximum number for a workshop is 35. For larger groups, it is recommended that you divide the group and offer multiple sessions. Two half day workshops can be offered in a single day.

Keynote Topics
Co-creating Lessons from Successful Leaders
When we explore case studies of successful leaders, we often find that they have been faced with incredible challenges bigger than what they can handle alone. Creating engagement and releasing passion are vital to the success of an organization. Equally important is to balance candor and caring. In this interactive session leaders will have the opportunity to share and work on real life challenges in creating companies everyone wants to work in.
Vital Conversations
The quality of the culture depends on the quality of relationships, which depend on the quality of conversations. Everything happens through conversation. In this hands-on session, participants will ?deconstruct? conversations to uncover what happens in conversations that turns us on, turns us off, and causes us to discover our potential or get stuck in the past. We will use ?real-plays? to help leaders discover new ways to converse with power, influence and positive impact.
Deciphering the Language of Leadership
As we talk with others, we are not only talking about information/content, we are also negotiating for power and influence. Encoded in every conversation is a language of leadership ? both positional and personal ? that establishes a contract from which we operate with others. Learn how to see the code, change the code and create powerful partnerships in the process.
