HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM AWARENESS-

This program discusses the new regulation covering Hexavalent Chromium or Hex Chrome. The new standard lowers exposure levels, sets the action level and requires training and medical surveillance of exposed employees.

Chromium is a naturally occurring element and can be found in three forms: metal ore, trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium. It is commonly seen in industrial processes such as chrome plating operations, the manufacture of dyes and pigments and leather and wood preservation. But studies have indicated that welding and other manufacturing processes are at risk as well.
